My path to Thrive Wellness, Inc.

Like many of us, in my mid to late twenties, I found myself slowing down, not working out quite as much, transitioning from an active job to a desk job (and too often still eating like I was in college). The weight began to creep on slowly until I woke up one morning and found myself about 30 pounds overweight. My stressful sales career path had left me feeling unfulfilled, unhappy, sick and tired. Stop me if you've heard this story before..........

Though I always had an interest in nutrition and fitness, who really knows exactly what they want to do for the rest of their life when they're 18 or 19 years old? Right? Well, I didn't either. So, I made myself a promise at some point in my late 20's that if my sales career was not taking off, I'd find another path. As I began to focus on my health, my diet and my happiness, the interest I had in nutrition quickly became an all-out passion. I became a wellness nerd almost over night. I read every nutrition book I could get my hands on and rediscovered my love of exercise. After about six months I had lost the weight, gained back my confidence and found the sense of purpose I had been lacking.

I went back to school, enrolling in a dietetics program while still working my full-time sales gig. I thought I was stressed out before! I had no idea! At one point, I was taking courses at 3 different institutions, while working full time and studying as much as my waning sanity would allow. Now that I knew what the rest of my professional life held, I was determined to get on with it as quickly as possible.

The hard work paid off. I've been fortunate to find my calling, my path and have been employed in workplace wellness for the past 10 years as a health coach, wellness and health education manager and client coordinator, before founding Thrive Wellness, Inc. Along with my degree in dietetics, I also have a degree in psychology and human resources management. I am certified through the American Council on Exercise as a health coach.

I love what I do and I hope to share my passion and knowledge with you.
